Pit Stop in Shawnee, Oklahoma

We traveled for just under six hours and pulled into the Grand Casino RV Park. Right off I-40, this is a great location to stay for one night while making the hull across Oklahoma.

It’s a casino with three restaurants, roof top pool and bar right in the same parking lot as the quaint creek-side RV sites that offer FULL hook up! Big Rig friendly and 50 amps FREE for one night. This is GREAT! Since the casino was gracious to offer us free parking, we visited their sports bar for chicken wings and draft beer. I gotta be honest. The food was ok. I would have preferred to just make dinner in the bus, and enjoy the creek-side picnic area – but we wanted to contribute to their business.

Note! There is also a nice gas station and diesel for your big rigs as you pull out – and I would advise FILLING UP.

REASON # 1052 I LOVE RVING: You can change your plans!!!

We woke up refreshed and ready to continue across I-40 West – with an overnight stop planned in Amarillo, Texas at the Big Texas RV Resort … and a challenge posed to Laura to gobble down the giant Big Texas ribeye (which I think should could have accomplished by the way). After all, at the start of the tour, she advised us all that she had planned to eat her way across the west in steak. Three nights in… and she was accomplishing her goal.

Note!

Harvest Host. I literally joined while driving to Shawnee, Oklahoma. I had a few nights we needed to just boon dock en route to specific RV parks. I really enjoyed checking out the places you can stay as a Harvest Host member. Every place I requested, we were accepted and will look forward to staying at a winery, brewery and gourd barn. Reviews to follow!
