83rd Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally

Thursday, August 3 – Wednesday, August 9

This year marks our third year joining the Featherlite family in Sturgis.

We are lucky to get to stay at Elkhorn Ridge RV Resort every year. It’s one of my favorite parks out west -- extremely big rig-friendly and located in the perfect spot between Spearfish, Sturgis and my favorite wild west town—Deadwood.

I love the state of South Dakota, both for its people and its beauty. The Sturgis Rally gives me the opportunity to ride around on a bike and truly take in all the area has to offer. We have a great group of people that join us for the week, and it’s a lot of laughter, riding, eating, drinking and adventuring.

Personally, I prefer Deadwood to Sturgis, so we spend most of our shopping and evenings in this historic town.

The new Rocksino by Hard Rock opened this summer and Mike got to smash a guitar for the grand opening. It’s right next to Outlaw Square, with its giant stage and entertainment daily... We also got to sample their amazing menu of food offerings. This is where I like to hang out!

If you’re looking for shopping in the area, you cannot go wrong with Madame Peacocks and the Scott Jacobs Gallery. Side note: Both of these shops have GREAT bars, so husbands are welcome. Just ask Goose! He literally bought Schlitz beer for everyone on the store at Madame Peacocks, and established his shopping posse as “Goose’s Angels.” lol!

We completed our week in Sturgis with Rusty’s Ride—a charity ride that Buffalo Chip organizes with NASCAR Hall of Famer and Champion, Rusty Wallace. Every year, they raise money for the NASCAR Foundation and Special Olympics—and every year, we have a tremendous time!

By the way, if you want the most bad-ass custom motorcycle tricked out and perfected by Rusty Wallace and his son Steve, check out Southern Country Customs. We’re saving up to get one for the next ride!
