Imagine that - a race car driver with the name "The Gunslinger" - Actually the name didn't come from Skinner being known as a sharp shooter - A TV analyst gave Mike the nickname after Skinner won a truck race in 1995 and pretended to shoot pistols with his fingers celebrating in victory lane. Mike to this day has no reason WHY he created this post race celebration - he claims he was shooting the competition down like in the wild Wild West - passing trucks and taking the checkered flag - but the TV commentator said. " The Gunslinger wins again" and it stuck. I know - not the most exciting story , but it's the truth. Oh... and yes we enjoy going to the shooting range and yes we collect and own guns.
